The picture belongs to a series called “Bio-prosthesis”. The series has been inspired by the idea of portraying the synthesis of a mechanical graft on a female body. The use of an old ford exhaust and the presence on stage of mirror and make-up bag want to convey the idea of a new cybernetic woman, stretched between traditional beauty and contemporary mutation. The bio-prosthetic woman has then been placed in an oversized loft: the lack of sound and the abundance of space all contribute to detach her from day to day reality and define her as a symbol. The location selected is one of the most striking factories of the last century industrial archaeology in Belfast.

The shoot has been realised in medium format and the film is a cross processed positive.
